Trees are excellent conductors of electricity. In fact, if a tree is touching a high voltage line, it will actually channel electricity away from the line causing line efficiency to drop making the tree a potential hazard for electrical shocks. In addition, the tree burns from prolonged exposure to high voltage wires and can result in unsightly dead limbs and branches and in some cases, cause the entire tree to die.
Should a tree cause damage or problems to a high voltage line – or even isolated blackouts - on private property, it is the property owner’s responsibility to repair the line and deal with the tree causing the problem.
Only a Certified Utility Arborist is qualified to clear these lines and, at Colonial Tree Service, we provide these experts to both commercial and residential customers.
